First we learned what STEAM stood for.
S for Science
T for Technology
E for Engineering
A for the Arts
and M for Maths
Then we were given challenges. The first to make a chair using newspaper, string and straws that was able to hold a figure made out of multi-link blocks.
Then; make a table that was able to balance M&Ms for the team. We were much better at the second challenge because of experience with the first challenge we knew we needing to include people's ideas more and teamwork work together and we aced the challenge.
In Literacy we learned to write up science experiments and to write a technology report using the design process of ask, imagine, plan, create, improve and share.
Our next step was to form teams and ask ourselves the big question again.
How can we use a Steam approach to make a marketable product? Our aim was to create enough products or experiences and sell it to raise money for charity.
My team made this race car track made out of cardboard hot glue and Popsicle sticks duck tape and paper.
Reflection
My highlight from this PBL was teamwork challenge and making the table and other challenges like holding the M&M on the table and then eating it and if was fun building our race track and looking at what other things people had made.
Question: what do you do at your school for PBL or have you ever had a market day

Hello Pieta I really like your blog. My team was better at the second challenge to I like the way to explain why you did better in the second challenge. The Market day was fun and I loved your race track keep up the good work.
